Illustration of the Play Control window which appears when double-clicking on the volume control icon in the task bar in Windows XP. In order to hear sound from the soundcard, make sure that the three highlighted controls have their volume sliders turned up. In this example the MIDI volume slider is set to 0 volumne, so MIDI sounds will not be audible in the speakers connected to the computer.
