This work was composed in 1733 to mark the birthday of the young Saxon prince Friedrich Christian on September 5, 1733. Although considered a dramma per musica because of its secular nature and dramatic stance, it is usually classified as a secular cantata. Warren Stewart edited this version for Magnificat Baroque in 2002.
